About Dauntless Physical Therapy & Wellness
Michelle L. Spencer, DPT
Michelle Spencer, DPT graduated from East Carolina University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program in 2013 and is licensed to practice in both Virginia and North Carolina. Michelle concurrently serves in the United States Army Reserves as a Military Police Officer since 2004 with 2 combat and 1 peacetime deployments under her belt. Her previous experience includes both outpatient orthopedic, inpatient acute care, and telehealth physical therapy. Dr. Spencer is certified in dry needling and has a diploma in Massage Therapy from the Cayce Reilly School of Massotherapy, as well as completed continuing education in SFMA, Integrative Dry Needling, and Spinal Manipulation. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor sports and camping with her partner Lisa and their 2 dogs, Cash and Frank.
In both her time in the military and working in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinics, Michelle saw a need for physical therapy treatments that could focus on more than one problem and body part at a time. She has a passion for the military community, ensuring active duty and reservists are fit to fight, and retirees and veterans get the care they need to address complex problems. During her time with the VA, Dr. Spencer was part of a trailblazing team providing telehealth rehabilitation to rural elderly veterans. There she honed her expertise in providing tele-therapy rehabilitation treatments and fueled her passion for developing strategies that keep people in their home longer while maximizing independence and safety.
